Cairn

This cairn forms part of a cairnfield on Longstone Hill, a clustering of stone mounds that speaks to Bronze Age burial practices across Dartmoor. Such cairns were raised over the cremated remains of the dead, and their grouping suggests a place of significance to communities living on the high moor thousands of years ago.

Today the cairn remains as a low stone mound among others on the open moorland. It is a scheduled monument, protected for its archaeological importance.
