Cairn near Trowlesworthy Warren House

This scheduled monument comprises a cairn, a mound of stones built as a burial marker, and a cist, a stone-lined chamber that once held Bronze Age remains. Such structures dot Dartmoor's high ground, evidence of communities who lived and buried their dead here over 3,500 years ago. The site sits east of Trowlesworthy Warren, part of a wider landscape of prehistoric activity.

Today the cairn and cist stand as they have for millennia, weathered but visible among the moorland. Visitors walking this part of Dartmoor will find it within the open landscape of gorse, heather and granite outcrops.
