Metheral Hill
Devon
Metheral Hill is a quiet granite tor set in the open moorland of central Dartmoor. At 458 metres, it is not among the highest peaks on the moor, but its exposed position gives it good sightlines across the plateau in most directions. The rocky outcrops have the characteristic weathered granite character of Dartmoor, worn smooth and fractured by centuries of moorland weather.
The walk to Metheral Hill is relatively straightforward across open ground, typical of mid-Dartmoor walking. It sits within the broader moorland landscape without dramatic neighbours, making it a useful waypoint on longer moorland routes rather than a destination in itself. The surrounding terrain is gently undulating, with heather and grass typical of the high moor.
