Hound Tor

Devon

Hound Tor is a fine example of Dartmoor's granite character. The weathered rocky outcrop sits at 419 metres and reveals the raw bones of the moor, its stone sculpted by time and exposure into a dramatic form. The tor is readily accessible, situated just a few minutes from the B3387, making it a straightforward walk for those exploring the central moor.

The setting places you in open moorland with views across the high ground. It is the kind of landmark that draws the eye from the road and rewards a short detour on foot, offering a sense of the moor's granite backbone without demanding a full day's commitment.
