River Dart Country Park has been welcoming families, schools and groups to the banks of the River Dart for 50 years, celebrating its golden anniversary in 2026. Set within 90 stunning acres of Dartmoor National Park — yet just one mile from the A38 at Ashburton — it's one of Devon's most popular multi-award-winning outdoor attractions and a destination that combines gentle nature with full-throttle adventure. The park's adventure playgrounds are the centrepiece for younger visitors: a pirate ship lake with a sandy beach, a play fort, agility trails, a treetop tower, climbing pods and an assault course. Dare Devil activities, available at additional cost and supervised by qualified instructors, raise the adrenaline with high ropes courses, caving, a mega zip wire over water, and canoeing and kayaking on the river. Dartmoor Bike Park sits within the estate, featuring a freeride area with runs graded from blue to orange, designed by ex-pro BMXer Kye Forte. Gravity-fed berms, jumps and a trick jump make it a destination for mountain bikers of all levels. For those seeking a more peaceful experience, scenic woodland walks follow the beautiful River Dart through ancient woodland, with nature and eco trails revealing the estate's rich wildlife. The Old Sawmill licensed café bar serves locally sourced food and drink freshly prepared on site, with outdoor seating alongside the river. The award-winning campsite accommodates tents, tourers and motorhomes and is open from Easter to late September, with campsite guests receiving free entry to all adventure playgrounds. Dogs are welcome throughout on leads.
