Helen Jackson is one of Dartmoor's most dedicated photographic voices — a photographer who not only works on the moor but lives within it, meaning her relationship with the landscape is quotidian and intimate rather than occasional. Her photography reflects this deep familiarity: images that find unusual angles and unexpected moments in a landscape that can look familiar from the outside but rewards sustained attention.

Her most substantial body of work is the 'Dartmoor's Disappearing Red Telephone Boxes' project — a meticulous documentation of the remaining red telephone boxes within the boundary of Dartmoor National Park, at a time when many are threatened with removal, conversion or neglect. The project has resulted in two published books: the original 2019 edition and a revised and updated second edition launched in November 2024. It is a piece of social and cultural geography as much as photography — preserving a record of these distinctly British objects within their moorland context.

Helen's online store offers photography as home goods for all budgets: framed prints and canvases for worldwide shipping, alongside homewares and stationery printed with her photographs. The emphasis is on liberating photography from the confines of the camera and making it accessible.

As well as landscape work, Helen documents the community events and organisations that give Dartmoor its social texture, including Dartmoor exhibitions and open studio events. She participates in Devon Open Studios and the Princetown Arts Festival and contributes to Artansa's exhibitions at Endsleigh and the Bedford. She is based on Dartmoor and available for photography commissions.
